Mike Trout, the center fielder for the Los Angeles Angels, is almost ready to return to the major leagues. To help with his recuperation, the 32-year-old is presently playing for the Triple-A Salt Lake Bees of the Angels.
Trout is personally attending to his team’s nutritional needs while he is in the lower leagues. He fed the Salt Lake Bees before and after games, according to Kevin Reynolds of The Salt Lake Tribune.
On Tuesday, Mike Trout decided that his team’s first meal should be Chick-fil-A. He stated (via Reynolds):
“A few weeks ago, I made contact in order to reserve a few spaces. Always look out for those you lead. Chick-fil-A was the big lunch choice today. After the game, steaks and other food will be served.
Trout did not participate in minor league baseball until 2017. In 2012, he also had a previous spell with the Salt Lake Bees prior to winning the three-time AL MVP. Thinking back on his need to be back, he remarked:
“Recalls a lot of enjoyable times. I simply enjoy coming here. The supporters are amazing. It is a stunning ballpark. The field appears well-maintained.Mike Trout underwent surgery on May 3 after being sidelined on April 29 due to a ruptured meniscus in his left knee. The 11-time All-Star’s playing time has been restricted recently because of ailments.
Due to a fractured wrist bone from the previous season, Trout was limited to just 83 games. He missed games in 2022 because of a back injury, while he only participated in 36 games in 2021 due to a calf issue.
Ron Washington, manager of the Angels, is upbeat about Mike Trout’s return.
Regarding Trout’s comeback to the MLB, Los Angeles Angels manager Ron Washington spoke candidly, stating (via ESPN):
“Hopefully, he will make more progress in that direction and return to us. I’m not sure when precisely, but let’s wait and see how things work out in Salt Lake City before calling.””We’ve been speaking every day. He is enthusiastic about every step he takes, and we are all eager for him to return.”
Mike Trout signed a $426 million, 12-year contract in 2019. He is currently in the sixth year of the deal. This 2024 season, Trout is batting as of yet.220 in 29 games with the Angels, with 10 home runs and 14 RBIs.
