The Texas Rangers scored twice while the Chicago White Sox managed only one run. In my opinion, the Rangers should play the White Sox every day.
Even though the Rangers won all four games in this series, tying their season-best five-game winning streak, they didn’t dominate Chicago throughout the series, except for yesterday’s blowout victory.
The series started with a couple of low-scoring games, and today’s match followed suit with the Rangers scoring just two runs. None of these runs came from hits with runners in scoring position, despite Chicago starter Jonathan Cannon giving up eight hits and walking two batters over his six innings.
The Rangers had issues with double plays today, as the White Sox turned three and had a fourth erased by a replay review off Leody Taveras’s bat, which brought in the go-ahead and eventual winning run. Texas’s other run came from a solo home run by Marcus Semien.
Despite these challenges, no one can complain about the Rangers securing a win, moving them to just one game below .500 and only 2.5 games out of first place in the AL West.
Player of the Game: While the offense struggled, Max Scherzer delivered a strong performance following his previous short outing due to arm fatigue. The future Hall of Famer pitched six innings, allowing just one run on three hits with a walk and nine strikeouts, moving into 10th place all-time with 3,400 career Ks.
