‘We’ll see what goes on with that’ Manager Ron Washington Keeps Quiet About Mike Trout’s Injury After Scare

Mike Trout, the star of the Los Angeles Angels, had a fright on Tuesday while on his rehab assignment. He was forced to leave a game for his Triple-A affiliate Salt Lake Bees after just two innings because of knee soreness. Ron Washington, the manager of the Angels, had no updates on Trout’s injury status on Wednesday.

Following surgery on May 3 to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee, an injury he sustained in April, Mike Trout has been recuperating. Ron Washington, the manager of the Angels, disclosed that Trout felt better after leaving Tuesday’s game early.

Washington expressed hope that the eleven-time All-Star would be able to start Wednesday’s game against the Salt Lake Bees as the designated hitter, as reported by ESPN:

“Hopefully, he can do some DH today. Thus, all we can do is wait and see how the day plays out. We’ll just have to wait and see, but as the evening wore on, he did feel better.”

But the captain of the Angels’ expectations were short-lived as it was later discovered that Mike Trout would not be starting for the Salt Lake Bees on Wednesday. On X/Twitter, the Los Angeles Angels disclosed that the 32-year-old will go back to Southern California for more assessments.

Following the Angels’ 2-1 victory over the Mariners on Wednesday, Washington discussed any upcoming developments about Mike Trout (via OC Register):

“Let’s see what happens with that; other than him returning to L.A. for a re-evaluation.”Due to injuries, Mike Trout’s playing time has been limited the last few seasons.

Prior to being added to the disabled list on April 30, Mike Trout has played in 29 games, hitting.220 with 10 home runs, six stolen bases, and 14 RBIs. He is frequently regarded as one of baseball’s greatest performers when healthy.

Nevertheless, injuries have limited his playing time in recent seasons. With a broken hamate bone during the 2023 season, Trout was only able to play in 82 games.

In 2022, he also missed a few games after going on injured leave with a back ailment. Mike Trout’s strained calf muscle limited his playing time to just 36 games in the 2021 season.
