Rangers overcome Orioles, secure win in series finale

Jonah Heim launched a three-run homer and four Texas pitchers stifled Baltimore’s offense as the Rangers secured a 3-2 victory in the final game of their three-game series against the Orioles on Sunday in Arlington, Texas.

Heim’s decisive fourth-inning blast provided the necessary support for starters Andrew Heaney and relievers Josh Sborz, David Robertson, and Kirby Yates, who collectively held Baltimore to their lowest run and hit totals (five) of the series. Có thể là hình ảnh về 1 người và văn bản

In the first two games, the Orioles had scored at least eight runs and amassed 11 hits each time. Heaney, who pitched five scoreless innings, allowed just two hits and three walks while striking out four. Sborz followed with two innings of shutout relief, giving up one hit and striking out three. Baltimore managed to score against Robertson in the eighth inning, but Yates closed out the game with a perfect ninth inning, including two strikeouts, to earn his 17th save.

Heim was among six Rangers players who had a hit, and Texas struck out only three times on Sunday, a significant improvement after striking out 23 times in the first two games of the series. For the Orioles, Anthony Santander hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning, ending their three-game winning streak. Baltimore center fielder Colton Cowser went 2-for-4 with a double. Có thể là hình ảnh về 2 người và văn bản

The game remained scoreless until the Rangers got to Orioles starter Dean Kremer in the fourth inning. Wyatt Langford walked with one out, followed by Nathaniel Lowe who also walked with two outs.

Heim then hit Kremer’s first-pitch splitter into the Texas bullpen, giving the Rangers a 3-0 lead. Heim’s ninth home run of the season marked Texas’ first lead in the series.

Despite hitting seven home runs in the first two games, Baltimore only managed a few deep fly balls against Heaney that were caught near the warning track.

The Orioles did not pose a serious threat after Heim’s homer, with only two runners reaching base in the next three innings. Santander’s 27th home run came after Adley Rutschman drew a walk.
