HOME COMFORTS: Jamal Murray is the modest superstar who lives in a Denver townhouse after two years in ‘Schitt’s Creek’ motel

Jamal Murray’s unpretentious residence in Denver mirrors the understated nature of the Denver Nuggets’ star player.

Despite inking a lucrative five-year, $170 million deal in 2019, Murray calls an $870,000 townhouse in the city’s Jefferson Park neighborhood home.

Murray lives in a modest $870,000 townhouse in Denver

Situated merely a mile away from Ball Arena, the four-story dwelling comprises three bedrooms, a cozy dining area, and a rooftop terrace boasting breathtaking vistas of both the city skyline and the majestic mountains.

In stark contrast to the opulent mega-mansions favored by many of his NBA counterparts, Murray’s abode is notably modest.

However, the unassuming nature of the house aligns perfectly with Murray’s laid-back demeanor. Hailing from a small Canadian town, Murray has never been selected for an NBA All-Star appearance and is frequently overshadowed by his Nuggets teammate, center Nikola Jokić.

True to his low-key style, Murray often makes appearances in post-game interviews dressed simply in a white T-shirt and loose-fitting gray sweatpants. The townhouse represents a significant upgrade from Jamal Murray’s previous living situation during his formative years as a basketball prodigy in Canada – the Schitt’s Creek Rosebud Motel.

Featured in the popular Netflix series Schitt’s Creek, starring Eugene Levy and his son Daniel Levy, the motel served as the backdrop for the story of the once-wealthy Rose family, who found themselves living in the dilapidated establishment after losing their fortune. In real life, the Rosebud Motel was recently listed for sale by Jesse Tipping, who also serves as the president of the Athlete Institute Basketball Academy and Orangeville Prep.

Tipping acquired the motel in 2011 with the intention of accommodating recruits for what would eventually become Canada’s most successful prep school basketball program.

Murray resided there for a span of two years before embarking on his collegiate journey at Kentucky University, a period during which Miami Heat training camp invitee Kyle Alexander also called the motel home.

According to Jesse Tipping, Murray’s arrival in Orangeville garnered significant attention due to his already established reputation as a top-tier basketball talent. Tipping recalled Murray’s unwavering drive and commitment to his craft, citing an instance where he tirelessly practiced an unconventional step-back three-point shot from half-court in the gym.

Despite initial skepticism about the practicality of such a shot, Murray’s dedication paid off when he successfully executed the same maneuver during a tournament game, leading his team to victory. This impressive display of skill left Tipping in awe, solidifying his belief in Murray’s exceptional abilities.

Following a season-long absence due to an ACL injury, Murray experienced a flood of emotions upon clinching his first NBA championship earlier this week. Reflecting on the journey, Murray expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support and love he received from fans and teammates alike. The Rosebud Motel used to house leading basketball recruits in Canada

In an interview with ESPN, Murray struggled to find words to articulate his feelings, emphasizing the significance of overcoming adversity and returning to the pinnacle of success. He exuded confidence in his team’s capabilities, affirming their belief in their ability to replicate their championship triumph in the future.

For Murray, this victory marks just the beginning of what he envisions as a series of triumphs. With unwavering determination and a resilient spirit, he looks forward to continuing the pursuit of excellence and achieving further success on the basketball court.Tipping recently put the motel up for sale
