Adolis García hammered his 13th homer of the year to deep left field, extending the Texas Rangers’ lead against the Miami Marlins.
The Texas Rangers clinched consecutive series victories for the first time since May 8, securing another shutout against the Miami Marlins with a commanding 6-0 win on Sunday afternoon at loanDepot Park.
This marks the first back-to-back shutouts for the Rangers since they blanked the Oakland Athletics on Sept. 23-24, 2016.
Andrew Heaney (2-6) notched his second win, impressively striking out seven batters over six scoreless innings while limiting the Marlins to just four hits. Jacob Latz, David Robertson, and Grant Anderson each contributed a scoreless inning of relief to seal the victory.
Adolis García played a pivotal role, driving in two runs on two hits, including a homer in the sixth inning that extended Texas’ lead to 4-0. The Rangers kicked off the game with a bang, tallying four consecutive singles from Marcus Semien, Corey Seager, Robbie Grossman, and García to secure a three-run first inning.
Speaking on Heaney’s performance, Rangers manager Bruce Bochy praised, “[Heaney] had good stuff. Three quality pitches going for him today,” adding, “The first game here was ugly. That was one of our worst games. But we bounced back, and to play this kind of baseball shows who they are,” during an interview with Bally Sports Southwest.
Corey Seager has hit safely in 15 consecutive games and reached base in 25 consecutive games, both team highs. Seager last had a 15-game hit streak in Aug. 2017. He’s one game shy of his longest streak of reaching base, which he did last summer.
