Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager has smashed eight home runs in the last eight games, making him just the fifth shortstop in MLB history to achieve this feat.
Corey Seager prefers to let his performance speak for itself rather than discuss it, aiming to maintain his impressive streak. The Texas Rangers’ shortstop has entered a rare power zone, which has significantly contributed to the team’s turnaround from a six-game losing streak to winning three consecutive games as they head into a series against the Marlins in Miami.
“We’re just playing good baseball. I think it’s contagious. We’re starting to put better at-bats together and feel better about things,” Seager commented after hitting his eighth home run in the past eight games.
Seager’s achievement places him among the elite as only the fifth MLB shortstop to hit eight or more home runs in an eight-game stretch, and he becomes the fifth Rangers player to achieve this milestone. With a total of 13 home runs, including 11 in May, Seager’s impact on the team’s offense has been undeniable.
Rangers manager Bruce Bochy expressed admiration for Seager’s performance, stating, “I don’t know what else to say about him. He’s carrying us. He’s trying to carry us through a tough stretch.”
Despite facing intentional walks from the Diamondbacks, Seager demonstrated his ability to capitalize on challenging pitches, further impressing Bochy and highlighting his importance to the team’s success.
Recognizing Seager’s immense talent and contributions, Bochy emphasized the team’s gratitude for having him on their roster. Seager’s offensive resurgence, from batting .219 and slugging .289 on May 2 to .260 batting average and .474 slugging percentage, underscores his pivotal role in driving the team’s offense.
As a two-time World Series MVP, Seager understands the significance of his bat in fueling the team’s offensive prowess and remains focused on sustaining his impact in the games to come.
