On this Memorial Day, Angels outfielder Mike Trout sent a message to all those who gave their life in defense of our nation.
The three-time MVP posted on social media, saying: “Recalling the sacrifice made by those who battled for our freedom. Always appreciative. #MemorialDay.
Trout has never shied away from expressing his appreciation to the men and women who defend our nation.
There weren’t any dry eyes in the crowd as the 11-time All-Star assisted a U.S. Navy soldier in surprising his family at Angel Stadium back in 2017.
The Angels have a planned day off before their game against the New York Yankees tomorrow night, so they won’t be playing on Memorial Day.
With a knee issue, Trout is still on the injured list. However, MLB.com reports that he has been exercising on an elliptical and an exercise bike, and he should soon move on to the treadmill.
Trout’s final game was against the Phillies on April 29, and he had to have surgery to fix a damaged meniscus. Although the 32-year-old reports feeling “good” following the procedure, he is unsure of when he will be able to resume his baseball activities.
“I’m feeling good,” Trout declared. “Every day brings improvements. I’ve been stretching a lot and participating in a variety of weight-lifting exercises. There is nothing like jogging or running just yet. but rather near.”
“They have a plan for me, but we’re not quite there yet,” the centerfielder went on. “Just take it one day at a time, and whenever it feels right, I’ll be out there.”
