Adolis García of the Texas Rangers is practicing as a designated hitter and is still considered day-to-day for fielding duties

Adolis García is currently batting, but his fielding glove remains unused.

Texas Rangers manager Bruce Bochy mentioned that García is still “not quite ready to throw” following his collision with second baseman Marcus Semien in the outfield last Saturday against the Los Angeles Angels at Globe Life Field.2021 Year in Review: Adolis Garcia - Lone Star Ball

García, who missed two games due to a forearm injury and returned on Wednesday in Philadelphia, has started four straight games as the designated hitter. Rookie Evan Carter filled in for him in right field on Saturday against the Minnesota Twins at Target Field.

In that game, García went 1 for 4, hitting a run-scoring double in the fourth inning that brought Corey Seager (who had singled) home from second base. Prior to this double, García had a .175 batting average over his previous 15 games.

“His return to fielding is day-to-day,” Bochy stated on Saturday. “I think he’d love to be back in right field — he prefers it over DH-ing. He enjoys DH-ing occasionally to give his legs a break. We’ll keep monitoring him, and once he’s ready, we’ll put him back in the outfield.”Texas Rangers' Adolis Garcia follows through after hitting a home run against Philadelphia...

In other outfield updates: rookie Wyatt Langford, who went 1 for 4 with a single and a walk in his first rehab start for Triple-A Round Rock on Friday night, may rejoin the Rangers when they return to Arlington on Tuesday. Langford, who started in left field and led off for the Express in his second rehab game on Saturday, has been out since May 4 with a hamstring strain.
