Following Christian Walker’s game-winning walk-off homer and the now-viral beekeeper’s display that night, right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto of the Dodgers showed the D-backs what a true pest looks like.
In six scoreless innings on Wednesday, Yamamoto ripped through Arizona, striking out five in the Dodgers’ 8-0 victory—their eighth in their last ten games.
For Yamamoto, who has thrown back-to-back scoreless gems as he works to forget about his terrible big league debut on March 21, it was another amazing step forward. That day in Seoul, the youngster only recorded three outs and gave up five runs; nevertheless, since then, his ERA has dropped to 1.64.
For the majority of this trip, the 25-year-old was able to glide with a comfortable lead. The Dodgers scored six runs on six hits in three innings against D-backs starter Jordan Montgomery, led by home runs from Will Smith and Andy Pages. Arizona, meanwhile, was unable to match Yamamoto’s supremacy.
