Jamal Murray has once again demonstrated his clutch performance on the court. Following his memorable buzzer-beater in Game 2 of the series, the Denver Nuggets’ standout player delivered another game-winning shot on Monday night to officially conclude their opening-round playoff series against the Los Angeles Lakers.
With the game tied in the closing seconds, Murray calmly sank a jumper over Austin Reaves from just inside the free-throw line, securing a 108-106 victory over the Lakers. His decisive shot came with less than four seconds remaining, leaving the Lakers with no opportunity to respond as they were out of timeouts.
Murray’s stellar performance included 32 points, 3 rebounds, and 7 assists.
This win sealed the Nuggets’ 4-1 series triumph over the Lakers and propelled them into the Western Conference semifinals. Their next challenge will be against the Minnesota Timberwolves, who swept the Phoenix Suns in their own first-round series.
Despite being questionable for Monday’s game due to a calf strain, Murray continued to shine. His buzzer-beater while falling out of bounds in Game 2 set the tone for the series, giving the Nuggets an early 2-0 lead.
The Lakers, who were swept by the Nuggets in the Western Conference finals last season, have now experienced two opening-round playoff exits in the last four seasons.
The Lakers encountered difficulties following an injury to Anthony Davis. Despite holding a slight lead at halftime, courtesy of a 12-0 run in the second quarter to recover from an early deficit, the Lakers faced adversity when Davis suffered a blow to his left shoulder early in the second half. The collision with Michael Porter Jr. occurred in the middle of the lane, causing Davis to fall hard to the court. He remained down for several minutes, clearly experiencing significant pain, before eventually rising and making his way to the bench.
