After a 10-day drought, the Texas Rangers clinched a series victory. Adolis Garcia and Wyatt Langford each smashed two-run homers in the opening inning, while Dane Dunning and the bullpen ensured the lead against the Cincinnati Reds remained intact.
The Texas Rangers resumed their strong performance from the previous night by scoring four runs in the opening inning and fending off a late rally from the Cincinnati Reds to secure a 4-3 victory on Sunday afternoon at Globe Life Field, thus clinching the three-game series.
Adolis Garcia and Wyatt Langford each delivered two-run home runs in the first inning, with Langford’s hit being an inside-the-park homer. Langford, recording his inaugural Major League home run, saw his blast to right-center field take an unusual bounce off the wall, eluding two outfielders. Langford’s speedy run around the bases left the Reds with no opportunity to make a play at home plate.
Dane Dunning, with 10 strikeouts, limited the Reds to two runs (one earned) on three hits over 5.1 innings, securing his third win of the season with a 3-2 record.
It’s the Rangers first series win since taking 3 of 4 from the Tigers in Detroit on April 18. It’s their first series win at home since taking 2 of 3 from the Chicago Cubs in the season-opening series.
