García and Carter each hit consecutive home runs as the Texas Rangers defeat the Seattle Mariners 5-1

Adolis García and Evan Carter both hit back-to-back home runs for the Texas Rangers, marking the first time this season they achieved this feat and leading the team to a 5-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday night.Adolis Garcia put the final nail in the Orioles coffin - Camden Chat

García’s seventh home run of the season barely cleared the center field wall in the fourth inning, with Mariners outfielder Julio Rodríguez nearly making a spectacular catch. García initially believed Rodríguez had caught the ball, only to realize later that it had indeed gone over the fence.

“I’ve seen Julio do that fake-out before where he pretends he didn’t catch it, so I wasn’t sure what was happening,” commented Carter, who was waiting on deck at the time.Adolis Garcia, Rangers Delight In Shutting Up Houston Fans, Put All the Pressure on the Astros in Game 7

Mariners manager Scott Servais expressed his belief that Rodríguez had indeed caught the ball, stating, “It’s right at him, over his head. Tough to get back to the fence and make a jump. You’re kind of off balance when you get there. Heck of an effort.”

The home run put an end to Texas’ 25-inning scoreless streak at home following their shutout loss to the Mariners on Tuesday.

“We were looking for a spark,” remarked Rangers manager Bruce Bochy. “Those were two crucial hits.”

Carter, who was moved from third to fifth in the batting order, delivered a triple in the seventh inning, driving in García. This pivotal inning was prolonged by an obstruction call against Mariners reliever Austin Voth, which allowed Nathaniel Lowe to reach base.

Texas added two more runs in the sixth inning, courtesy of a single by Jonah Heim and a two-base error by Mitch Haniger in right field.

Jonathan Hernández (1-0), making his first appearance of the season, retired four of the five batters he faced. Hernández had been sidelined with a lat strain until being activated from the 15-day injured list on Tuesday.

Despite leaving nine runners on base, the Mariners struggled to capitalize on scoring opportunities, going 1 for 11 with runners in scoring position.
