Adolis Garcia delivered a standout performance, tallying four RBIs with a home run and a single, while Texas left-hander Cody Bradford controlled the game by limiting the Houston Astros to only two singles through the eighth inning.
The Rangers, reigning World Series champions, secured a convincing 10-2 victory in their first encounter with their in-state rivals since last year’s American League Championship Series. Garcia’s three-run homer in the second inning propelled the Rangers to a 5-0 lead, marking his AL-leading fourth home run in just seven games of the season. He extended his RBI count to 10 with a two-out single in the fifth inning, just before Marcus Semien added to the onslaught with a three-run home run.
Semien contributed three hits and drew two walks for the Rangers, who amassed 16 hits and six walks in total. Despite Jose Altuve’s leadoff single in the first inning, the Astros struggled to find offensive momentum until Jeremy Pena’s two-out single in the eighth inning, which marked the end of Bradford’s stellar performance. Bradford, who struck out four batters and issued no walks, earned his first win of the season.
The victory was particularly significant for the Rangers, as it snapped the Astros’ eight-game winning streak at Globe Life Field, a venue where they had previously dominated, including during the ALCS last year and a series sweep in September.
