The Los Angeles Angels’ most valuable player is Mike Trout. However, the Angels have missed the playoffs since 2014 despite his skill. Trout also wants his squad to succeed.
The three-time AL MVP has persistently contacted management in an attempt to get the team to sign some big names.
“I talk in their ear all the time. I have no idea what the state of the market is at the moment. Mike Trout told Jon Heyman of the New York Post, “It’s pretty crazy.”
Trout is carrying a lot of the load since Shohei Ohtani left to join the Los Angeles Dodgers.
At the Angels’ spring training complex on Monday, Trout stated, “The easy way out is just ask for a trade.” There may come a moment. Perhaps. I haven’t given this much thought. However, I swore loyalty when I signed that contract. Here is where I want to win a title.
The only free agents the Angels had contact with were Blake Snell, who recently signed with the San Francisco Giants, and slugger J.D. Martinez, who is still available.
The Angels management office is under pressure to make some significant decisions quickly while Trout, who turns 33 in August, is still playing at the top of his game. Although Trout is a devoted player, he could lose patience if the squad is unable to field a competitive team despite his persistent encouragement.
Mike Trout requesting that owners bring in new players
Mike Trout has been pressuring John Capiro, the team president, and Arte Moreno, the owner of the Angels, to make some major player acquisitions.
“I was in contact with both of them (Carpino and Moreno) this offseason, just pushing, pushing, pushing,” Trout stated. “There’s still some guys out there that can make this team a lot better.”For as long as I can, I will not give up. Until those guys sign, or until the season begins. It’s just who I am. I’m exerting all effort that I can. It’s clear that Arte made the choice. I will add my two cents to that.”We’ll have to wait and see if Moreno gives in to his superstar’s requests.
