Ronald Acuna Jr. Soars to Victory, Clinching National League Most Valuable Player Award in Atlanta Triumph

Ronald Acuna of Atlanta achieved remarkable results in 2023, earning the highest honor in Major League Baseball for his achievements. MLB declared on Thursday that Acuna has been chosen as the National League’s Most Valuable Player.

The Baseball Writers Association of America unanimously chose Acuna. Los Angeles Dodgers Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman came in second and third in the poll, respectively.

For the first time since 1931, both Acuna and American League MVP Shohei Ohtani were chosen unanimously to win their respective leagues.

The Atlanta outfielder scored 41 home runs, 73 stolen bases, and batted.337/.416/.596. With his achievements, Acuna became the first player in MLB history to hit at least 40 home runs and steal at least 70 bases in a same season.

The 25-year-old wins the MVP trophy, making him the fifth Atlanta player to do so since they started playing there. In 2020, Freddie Freeman emerged victorious. Dale Murphy (1982, 1983), Terry Pendleton (1991), and Chipper Jones (1999) are the others.
