After a 60-pitch session, Justin Verlander triumphed.With less than four weeks to go until the season opener, the Astros are getting ready to welcome back their three-time Cy Young winner. Manager Joe Espada was present when Justin Verlander cleared the 60-pitch exercise on Sunday morning.

Verlander threw his sliders, changeups, and fastballs without a hitch, according to Espada, who informed reporters that the session was productive. This change occurred after Verlander began training two weeks later than originally scheduled because of a shoulder problem.

This new information indicates that Verlander’s return to the mound is becoming near. He will now be required to complete two live BP sessions prior to his spring training debut this season.

If Espada thinks we can begin discussing that, then we can. “With any luck, he’s at a point where we can initiate the process of arranging a live BP.”Opening Day, March 28, against the New York Yankees, is when Verlander will likely start if he is well enough to do so. Although the timetable is tight, Espada still considers it good news if Verlander also gets to pitch in the first week.
