This season, the Los Angeles Dodgers should have little trouble winning baseball games.
The Dodgers are overwhelming favorites to win the World Series in 2024 following an offseason that saw them acquire a number of talents.
However, if there’s one minor issue they could be having, it’s understanding one another. Teoscar Hernández is from the Dominican Republic, while Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto are from Japan.
Ohtani and Yamamoto are making every effort to learn Spanish from their native tongue, while Hernández is doing his best to impart his knowledge to his Japanese teammates. Watch the amusing conversation in this team-posted video:With six years of MLB experience under his belt, Ohtani appears to be rather fluent in basic Spanish. Then there’s Yamamoto, a youngster who is undoubtedly making an effort to pick up new skills.
As Ohtani, Yamamoto, and Hernández start their spring training in Arizona, they have a lot to be thrilled about. The two-time AL MVP Ohtani became the highest-paid player in MLB history in December when he agreed to a 10-year, $700 million contract. A few weeks later, Yamamoto signed a $325 million, 12-year contract, following in the footsteps of his compatriot. Subsequently, Hernández signed a one-year, $23.5 million contract with the Dodgers in early January.
