“My faith, my family come first”- Anthony Rendon’s Surprising Revelation: Baseball Takes Backseat Despite Staggering $245 Million Contract

Over the past few seasons, Anthony Rendon has emerged as one of the MLB’s most divisive players. With the Los Angeles Angels, the former All-Star and World Series winner went from being among the greatest third basemen in the league to a shell of his former self.

Anthony Rendon says that he prioritizes his faith and family over baseball; calls it a job

Prior to the 2020 season, Anthony Rendon signed a seven-year, $245,000,000 contract, making him one of the biggest free agent signings in Los Angeles Angels history. Rendon, a two-time Silver Slugger, has only played in 200 games for the Angels in his four years with the team, which has many fans dissatisfied.

“It’s never been a top priority for me,” Anthony Rendon said when asked if baseball is his top focus. This is a work assignment. This is what I do for a living. Before this work, my family and faith come first. Thus, I’m going if those things take precedence over it.” @MLBONFOX – @BallySportWest

Apparently, his most recent interview won’t help him win over Angels supporters’ hearts and minds. The divisive third baseman told reporters that playing baseball is only a means of support for him and has never been a priority.

The 33-year-old expressed his clear priorities in life, saying, “My faith, my family come first.”

Although Rendon’s devotion to his family and his faith are admirable, there have been inquiries about whether or not he wants to continue playing baseball for a while. The third baseman’s sound bites haven’t been helping his cause, so if he wants to restore his reputation among Angels fans and in the MLB, he will have to do it on the field.

Anthony Rendon has faced criticism for other interviews this year before this one

There have already been concerns expressed over Anthony Rendon’s fervor for the game. Rendon caused a stir online earlier this year when he expressed his opinion that the MLB season ought to be shortened.

Many players and fans were offended when Rendon stated that the season shouldn’t consist of 162 games during an episode of The Jack Vita Show. Rich Hill is one of the players who expressed his preference for the season to continue into the next year.
