The MLB said on Tuesday that the Nike Vapour Premier “chassis” will be used by all 30 ballclubs this season. These jerseys will be used by the teams for their home, away, and alternate kits. Los Angeles Angels OF Mike Trout is reportedly an admirer of these designs.

Since Nike was using their newest fabric to make these jerseys, it was quickly clear that the new design was not as good as what fans had grown accustomed to seeing in the major leagues.

Before the Cactus and Grapefruit leagues, players began reporting for their Spring Training regimens. This gave them a firsthand look at the new fabric, and many of them had negative impressions: the jerseys were not as comfortable as they had been in the past, and the fabric seemed cheap.

However, many MLB fans mocked Mike Trout for his love of the new jerseys because many other players had expressed their disapproval of them. Following Trout’s satirical remark on X, which was formerly Twitter, fans responded as follows:

MLB, Nike, and Fanatics announced a ten-year partnership with each other starting in 2020. Nike took Majestic’s place as the league’s uniform supplier.

Despite spending two of his four injury-related stints on the 60-day injured list, Mike Trout’s 2021–2023 stats were.962 OPS and 162 OPS+. Trout also averaged 45 home runs, 97 RBIs, 111 runs, and 7.5 bWAR in 162 games over those three seasons.

Perhaps most crucially, FanGraphs predicts that in 2024, the legendary slugger from the Los Angeles Angels will play 146 games, smash 37 home runs, drive in 95 runs, and score 100 runs. It makes sense to assume that baseball fans in general and Angels fans specifically would gladly sign up for that kind of production from Trout if he stays a safe distance from the IL.

If Trout hits 37 home runs this season, he would overtake several prominent Hall of Famers and join the 400-home run club as the 59th member, according to FanGraphs forecasts.
