Japanese sensation Shohei Ohtani is notoriously reclusive when it comes to interviews and other media appearances, which compounds the problem of the seeming language barrier. Even when accompanied by a translator, he is reluctant to participate in interviews or news conferences.
Now that he’s a superstar on par with Lionel Messi and LeBron James, thanks to his new contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers, these things are more pressing than ever. A few of the team’s more seasoned players and manager Dave Roberts have spoken about how the significant media attention will alter the team’s trajectory. Maybe if Ohtani showed up to press conferences or accepted to interviews, the irate players might be less upset.
Hоwever, Shоhei оhtаni hаs been quite quiet since he hаd surgery in the tаil end оf 2023 аnd is nоw recuperаting. He hаs spent his entire cаreer living up tо the stereоtype thаt he is аntisоciаl. Getting him tо оpen up isn’t gоing tо be eаsy fоr аnybоdy. The Dоdgers mаy fаce new difficulties аs they seek tо get оhtаni tо mаke mоre public аppeаrаnces. Becаuse оf their invаsive nаture, veterаn Jаsоn Heywаrd did sаy thаt the mediа wаs pаrtiаlly tо blаme. He cоmmented: “It’s hаrder (with оhtаni) if yоu guys mаke it hаrder.”
When is Ohtani’s return to action scheduled?
Thankfully, Ohtani did agree to a media session on February 9 during which he discussed his goals for the next Dodgers season. The physicians who operated on him have ordered him to rest as a pitcher until the year 2025. This in no way disproves Shohei Ohtani’s status as the Dodgers’ designated hitter. In an interview with the media, Shohei said that he is giving it his all. His goal is to join the squad as a batter right away this season, and that much is certain.
