During his nine years with the Dodgers, Justin Turner became a fan favorite. He became an icon for Dodger fans worldwide, from the unforgettable walkoff events to the 2020 World Series win and beyond.
Although Turner has now joined the Toronto Blue Jays following a year with the Boston Red Sox, TMZ recently approached him while he was out and about and inquired about his previous club.
The newest Dodger, Shohei Ohtani, was asked by Turner how he could become a fan favorite similar to Turner.
“In my opinion, he’s performing effectively,” Turner remarked.
The next question posed to Turner concerned how he might win over Dodgers fans. He knew the answer.
“Һit homers.”
Turner wasn’t exactly keen on getting into the weeds during this casual conversation, but he’s absolutely correct that Ohtani is quickly becoming a fan favorite.
While Ohtani’s Dodgers jersey shattered the record set by Fanatics in the first two days of its availability, the number of views for his press conference with the team exceeded those of the whole 2023 World Series.
He became a fan favorite after surprising Joe Kelly’s wife, Ashley, with a Porsche. Ashley had advocated for him to join the Dodgers, claiming that her husband would retire his No. 17 jersey.
Even though he hasn’t batted yet, Ohtani is already a fan favorite.
He will continue to win over the entire fan base once he steps foot on the field and, like Turner mentioned, scores home runs.
