Just hours before he makes MLB history with the 30-60 club, Ronald Acuña Jr. weds his longtime sweetheart

A full day was in store for Ronald Acuña Jr.: the Atlanta Braves player tied the knot first thing in the morning, then blasted a historic grand slam, and capped off the night by defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers and their National League MVP opponent, Mookie Betts.

He is planning to wait until November to take their honeymoon.

Acuña tied the knot with fiancée Maria Laborde in a modest ceremony at a mountain cabin approximately 45 minutes away from the team’s hotel before guiding the Braves to an 8-7 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday night. Two little sons were born to the couple.

Through a translation, Acuña stated, “I didn’t disclоse anything to anybody. I’ve planned it out weeks in advance, you know.

“Wow,” exclaimed Brian Snitker, manager of the Braves, who was taken aback. “To be honest, I’d be better off in the dark about most of this, but props to him.”

Acuña became the first player in baseball history to have 30 home runs and 60 stolen bases in a single season when his grand slam broke a 1-1 deadlock in the second inning. Even though Betts Һit two home runs, Atlanta still needed a solid оffensive showing to win the game.

“I am filled with joy and a sense of being unique,” Acuña expressed. I feel incredibly fortunate, and I am extremely grateful.

After taking a 7-1 lead in the fifth inning, Atlanta managed to hold on until Raisel Iglesias got Kiké Hernández to ground out with two runners in scoring position.

What Snitker meant was that it was like a game. “I suppose it lived up to expectations.”

Following Acuña’s private wedding, he contributed to the Braves’ 88-45 record improvement with three Һits. With two outs and one run in the second inning, he Һit his third grand slam of the career, a 429-foot that went into the left field pavilion off of Lance Lynn (10-10). August is Acuña’s most productive month with 36 home runs throughout his career. The ninth inning was when he stole his 62nd base.

The first athlete in history to have 30 home runs and 60 stolen bases got married, according to teammate Michael Harris II. “That was quite an eventful day.”

A career-high 38 runs scored, four RBIs, two home runs, and two hits were recorded by Betts. He drove a three-run ball to right field with two outs in the fifth inning, bringing the Dodgers to a 7-4 lead. The ball ricocheted off Acuña’s glove because he leaped at the wall, but his glove was over the barrier.

It’s hard to look away from that matchup, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts commented.

The game’s top two long-ball teams Һit seven home runs, accounting for 12 of the game’s fifteen runs.

The ninth inning got underway with Betts’ flyout to deep right. Will Smith Һit and Freddie Freeman walked, loading the bases with runners who might tie or win the game. With a fly ball by Max Muncy, Iglesias recorded his 27th save out of 29 opportunities, including his 18th consecutive save.

The Braves finished August with a record of 21-8, attempting to tie the record set by the 1999 Atlanta Braves team that went 21-7 for the most victories in a month. Their MLB-leading record is now 88-45, thanks to an Atlanta rally.

According to Harris, “they’re the team that’s definitely going to challenge us and bring out the best in us.” Players like him enjoy playing to their maximum capacity and thrive when faced with new challenges. In preparation for October, it will clear our heads.

The month saw the end of the Dodgers’ four-game winning run as they concluded with a 24-5 record. As of right now, they have 83 victories and 50 losses in the National League West.

Spencer Strider (16-4) gave up four runs on four Һits in six innings while striking out nine. In the fifth inning, with the Dodgers behind 7-1, Betts Һit a three-run home run off of Strider.

In the eighth inning, the Dodgers’ lead was trimmed to 8-6 as Michael Busch and Betts each Һit solo shots off of Joe Jiménez. With those two Һits, he tied the record for most Һits in August by a Los Angeles Dodgers player with 51. In the bottom of the eighth inning, with the Dodgers down 8-7, Muncy Һit a deep fly ball.

All three of these players—Austin Riley, Harris, and Acuña—had seven Һits apiece, contributing seven RBIs. Along with each of them, the Braves Һit 253 home runs, which was the most in the major leagues.

The honeymoon is being postponed by Acuña till the season concludes.

“I would rather it be after the World Series,” he stated.

LEARNING ROOM

Mets: INF The remainder of the series will be played by Ozzie Albies, who was given the day off.

Dodgers right-handed pitcher Walker Buehler will start a rehab assignment on Sunday after Tommy John surgery. Before returning to the Dodgers’ rotation, he will make at least three rehab starts with Triple-A Oklahoma City, where he will pitch one or two innings. Before the regular season comes to a close, we want to have him ready to start as soon as possible.
