Superstar from the Los Angeles Dodgers has been helping out a young outfielder from the Braves this offseason

The postseason games between the Atlanta Braves and the Los Angeles Dodgers have been legendary, and the animosity between the two teams has only grown stronger over the years. But it seems like there’s also some mutual regard among the players; Mookie Betts lent a hand as a coach to Michael Harris II, a center fielder for the Braves, during the offseason.

Harris II has reportedly been receiving mentoring from the two-time World Series champion and 2018 American League MVP, according to David O’Brien of The Athletic.

“He has treated me well. He’s been an excellent leader to me, providing guidance and helping me see things in a different light.

With a solid start to his Major League Baseball career under his belt, Harris II is entering his third season as the starting center fielder for the Braves. He won the National League Rookie of the Year award in 2022.

In nearly every key hitting category, Harris finished the previous season barely behind his teammate and reigning 2023 NL MVP Ronald Acuña Jr., demonstrating that his sophomore campaign with the Braves was nearly as good.At the end of last season, Harris II had a slash line of.293/.331/.477, with 18 home runs, 54 extra-base hits, 57 RBIs, and 20 stolen bases.

His оffensive rise from last year was only marred by a lackluster postseason effort, as he managed not even to get a Һit. Last October, ironically, Betts had a same performance, going hitless in eleven plate appearances. In spite of the fact that Harris’s offense was nonexistent in the 2023 playoffs, he was a defensive stalwart. In a double play that tied the National League Division Series at one point, he robbed outfielder Nick Castellanos of what should have been an extra-base Һit for the Philadelphia Phillies before throwing Bryce Harper in to complete the play.Harris II stands to gain a great deal from being mentored by Betts, who is widely considered one of the greatest leaders in baseball. Having access to the knowledge and experience of one of baseball’s all-time greats could pave the way for an impressive 2024 season.
