Lewis Hamilton fights Shohei Ohtani in an attempt to emulate his close friend Shaun White’s phenomenal 9-year-old career.
Sports serve as a common bonding experience for players and spectators alike. Many athletes regularly go up to watch a friend or two compete in a different sport at the highest possible level. For example, Neymar Jr. supported Lewis Hamilton at the 2018 Spanish GP. Shaun White, a three-time Olympic gold medallist in snowboarding, has been to more of F1’s championship events than any soccer star. In a twist, MLB superstar Shohei Ohtani has shown up to derail Hamilton’s attempt to duplicate White’s out-of-the-ordinary accomplishment.
This grouping of outstanding athletes from different sports may seem random at first glance, but bear with us. Since the 2020 Monaco Grand Prix, Hamilton and White have been publicly buddies. The five-time U.S. Olympian was there in the paddock with his Canadian actress girlfriend Nina Dobrev to cheer on Hamilton.
