The upcoming spring training for the Texas Rangers is less than 30 days away, although it may not seem that way with the slowest offseason in recent memory. Despite the sluggishness, the Rangers have not been completely inactive. While waiting for Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto to sign and for TV revenue details to be clarified, they have been considering their needs for the upcoming season. One of their main priorities is a starting pitcher, and Jordan Montgomery is still available and could be a potential fit for the team.
However, it should be noted that the Rangers did not require many changes this offseason. After all, they are the reigning world champions. They have retained eight of their nine regulars from the postseason batting order and four of their five main starters from the regular season. While there has been some turnover in the bullpen, this is a common occurrence for most teams in baseball.
With all of this in mind, the Rangers are now gearing up for their first workout with pitchers and catchers on February 14th.
