The New York Yankees offseason was deemed successful with the signing of Juan Soto. They knew they needed to bring in some A-list talent, so that’s exactly what they did. No one would be able to match their offer since they did it in the traditional Yankees fashion.

Jim Duquette, a former general manager for the New York Mets and the Baltimore Orioles, has stated that the team will not win their division, even with the Soto trade.

As far as the American League East is concerned, I rank them as the third-place squad. The Yankees aren’t satisfied with it at the moment.

Calling New York a third-place club is intriguing, even though there are definitely issues about them. Among the American League East clubs, only the Yankees made substantial offseason moves.

A number of teams have struggled this offseason, including the Orioles (who still haven’t acquired a starting pitcher), the Blue Jays (who have been largely unsuccessful in free agency), the Red Sox (who are getting worse), and the Rays (who lost Tyler Glasnow and perhaps Wander Franco).

Although New York’s acquisition of Soto does not ensure their AL East championship, the team has made other moves that bode well for their chances.

This season’s pitching staff should be significantly better than last year’s thanks to the arrival of healthy Carlos Rodon and Marcus Stroman.

The team’s mission now is to disprove Duquette’s opinion.

The Yankees need a strong return season following their most dismal season in recent memory. With the addition of some star players this winter, the pressure is on the team to show that it can compete at the highest level and win a World Series.
