Explore the journey of the inaugural player to achieve 50 home runs in 2023

In November 2021, Matt Olson, the first baseman for the Atlanta Braves, tied the knot with his longtime partner, Nicole Olson.

Born on June 18, 1995, in Johns Creek, Georgia, Nicole has strong ties to her hometown. Her father, Martin, serves as the Chief Financial Officer at Gain Servicing and Cherokee Funding in Atlanta. Nicole attended Johns Creek High School until 2013 and later pursued global and international studies during her participation in Globis Study Abroad in Verona, Italy, in 2015. She furthered her education at the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business, earning her BBA in 2017.

While still a student, Nicole gained professional experience as an intern in CBRE’s advisory and transactional services. Currently, she serves as a retail tenant advisor/associate at Jones Lang LaSalle, a global provider of commercial real estate services.

In the realm of sports, Matt Olson signed a substantial eight-year, $168 million contract with the Atlanta Braves before the 2022 season, making a significant financial commitment from the team. This includes an annual salary of $22 million from 2024 to 2029, with a $20 million club option for 2030 when Olson will be 36, without a buyout.

Transitioning from the Oakland Athletics to the Atlanta Braves on March 14, 2022, Matt Olson inked an impressive $80 million contract extension the following day, surpassing Freddie Freeman’s contract to become the team’s highest-paid player. Throughout his career, Olson has consistently worn the No. 28 jersey, a tradition he has maintained since his 2017 promotion to the Oakland Athletics. Notably, during the 2022 season, he was one of just two MLB players, alongside teammate Dansby Swanson, to participate in all 162 games.
