As the season winds down, the Yankees will put Aaron Judge’s health first

Since the Yankees’ game against the Diamondbacks was postponed on Saturday, the Yankees are still in the Һunt for the postseason, meaning that Aaron Judge will have to play through his injured toe until Sunday.

Sunday against the Diamondbacks, or whenever the weather allows the Yankees to play again, he will almost probably be in the lineup again, giving fans in The Bronx a reason to tune in.

Even after Judge Һit a career-high three home runs on Friday night at the Stadium, the organization still plans to prioritize his long-term health once they are mathematically eliminated from postseason contention, manager Aaron Boone said.

That is more important than Judge hitting 40 home runs, which is certainly possible at this point given his current pace.

For the sake of the young kids we have up, I think it’s vital for him to be playing and setting the tone right now,” Boone said Friday night. We’ll do what’s in both of our and his best interests, we promise.

The performance must go on for the time being.

The reason Judge hasn’t shut down is because “we’re not out of it,” he claimed. That, in my opinion, is first. Second, you should participate. Get out there and do it. It’s about being present every day.

Before tearing a ligament in his right big toe, Judge Һit 19 home runs in 49 games and had an OPS of 1.078. In 51 games since then, he has 16 home runs and an OPS of.943.

Judge had gone 17 games without a home run until Friday.

You won’t feel perfect all the time, Judge warned. There will be cuts, scrapes, and stubbed toes, it seems safe to assume. If you’re just 60 percent, you should provide your full effort. If you’re just 20% off, just show up every day. That’s just how long it takes to win. The great thing about this game is that we don’t have to play 17 games or 82 games.

“We play 162; even if you’re not feeling it or have nothing to give that day, you still have to show up and produce for the team and produce for the city.”

Boone and Judge’s other teammates have noticed this approach.

You watched him last year, and he was having the greatest success possible, Gerrit Cole said. Even though he’s hurt this year, he’s still trying to win the same manner. The end effect may be different, but the man behind it is the same.

And that has repercussions across the bar.

“It does so much for inspiring your teammates and setting an example for younger players — and really all of us,” Cole said. As his followers put it, “He’s a leader, and he’s showing how to go about your business when you have challenges in front of you.”

Indeed, Boone concurred.

The manager remarked, “One of the things I admire about Aaron is that you can’t tell what’s going on.” “He leads us as captain. No matter how high we are or how low we fall, he is always able to maintain a level head.

Judge is coming off a record-setting 62-homer season and is in the first year of his nine-year, $360 million contract and captaincy, so this is hardly what anyone expected at the start of the season.

But Judge’s season and the Yankees’ were interrupted by the damage he sustained when he crashed into the outfield fence at Dodger Stadium in June.

The Yankees were 35-25 at the time of the ιnjury, but they went 8-4-2 without Judge.

When he got back to the team in late July, the Yankees were deаd last in the American League East.

His bobblehead give-away bombed, too.

The event, originally planned for this past Saturday, has been postponed until the next spring, on April 24.

Judge will be operational for at least one more day in 2023.
