While Perez’s opinion may be met with skepticism, there is merit to his argument. Despite missing out on Ohtani, the Dodgers boast an impressive lineup with MVP contenders Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts leading the charge. However, Freeman and Betts finished behind the Braves’ Ronald Acuna Jr. in the NL Most Valuable Player voting. This demonstrates the Braves’ formidable talent and their ability to compete at the highest level.

 

The Braves’ recent success cannot be overlooked either. They won an impressive 104 games in the 2023 MLB season and possess a roster filled with promising players such as Spencer Strider, Michael Harris II, Austin Riley, Ozzie Albies, and the aforementioned Acuna. Although the Braves may not be making as big of a splash in free agency as the Dodgers, they have made strategic moves to strengthen their already talented roster. The acquisitions of Jarred Kelenic and Chris Sale in December demonstrate their commitment to improving the team. Additionally, there may be more moves in store for the Braves during the ongoing offseason.

 

Like the Dodgers, the Braves experienced an early exit from the 2023 MLB playoffs, losing to the Philadelphia Phillies in the NL Divisional Series. However, this setback should not overshadow their potential to compete for the championship in 2024.
