The life-saving donation of $26,000 from Mavericks star Kyrie Irving goes to a Ghanaian man in need of a kidney transplant

Despite the many who have criticized Kyrie Irving over the years, he has made good use of his celebrity status. A person in need will be able to afford a medical operation thanks to his recent substantial donation.

Andrews Dzifa Amuzu’s family has just launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for a kidney transplant. Kyrie Irving decided to step in and lend a hand after seeing the news. The All-Star guard gave $26,000 of his own money, thus above the family’s $25,000 fundraising goal.

This is just one more way that Irving has put his NBA stardom to good use. He gave more over $20,000 last year to help a Harvard student who was having trouble paying tuition stay enrolled.

Both on and off the court, Irving has been the target of much criticism in recent years. However, the former first-round choice is known to be very giving to charity.

Irving has earned little more than $270 million over his 13-year tenure in the NBA. He extended his contract with the Dallas Mavericks for another season this past offseason, signing a $126 million, three-year agreement.

When can we anticipate Kyrie Irving’s return to the court?

While Kyrie Irving has been given opportunities to make a difference away from the court, his on-court performance has been disappointing. The All-Star guard hasn’t played since December 8th, when he was sidelined after a fall by teammate Dwight Powell.

Irving has been out for the Dallas Mavericks’ past twelve games due to this incident. Nevertheless, his reappearance may not be far off. In a statement made over the weekend, Mavs head coach Jason Kidd stated that he anticipates Irving’s comeback during their forthcoming homestand.

Irving and Luka Doncic were averaging All-Star performances before Irving’s ιnjury. On 47/38/90 shooting, he has averaged 23.1 points, 3.9 boards, and 5.2 assists in 17 games.

With Irving sidelined, the Mavericks have maintained their competitiveness through Doncic’s strong play. As of this writing, their record is 19-14, which puts them in sixth place in the Western Conference. If the Sacramento Kings and the Los Angeles Clippers were to take first and second place, respectively, Dallas would be just one game behind.

Dallas hopes to improve their standings and be a contender in 2024 with the return of both of their players.
