Former Yankees Derek Jeter said, “My agent got me a chef as a Christmas gift when asked about the significant present that allowed him to break free of pre-packaged meals
Most baseball fans consider Derek Jeter to be among the league’s all-time greats. While playing for the New York Yankees, the shortstop was a five-time World Series champion.
Jeter was a baseball superstar, but he also had his share of problems off the field. His lack of culinary skills was one of those issues.
In order to perform at his peak and produce those massive home runs, Jeter need the proper nutrition and nourishment. To keep the player from damaging his lifestyle with ready-made meals, his agent bought him a chef for Christmas in the early 2000s.
In 2004, during an interview with Playboy Magazine, the question of whether Jeter preferred snack food or fast food was put to him. A star from the Yankees said:
The negаtive issue is that I’m not good in the kitchen. When I go grocery shopping, I buy a lot of cereal, oatmeal, Eggos, and other snacks. Then, when they expire, I buy more. When I don’t have time to cook, I order takeout. A couple of years back, for Christmas, my agent sent me a chef. I would heat up whatever he had waiting for me. His return might be necessary, I’m afraid.
