The Los Angeles Dodgers have signed Travis Swaggerty, a former top prospect

Travis Swaggerty was assigned to Triple-A Oklahoma City after being signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers to a Minor League contract.

Spring Training invites are presumably part of the arrangement, but the Dodgers have not yet disclosed who else is invited to Major League camp in 2024 among the other players on the roster.

The Pittsburgh Pirates originally picked the left-handed hitting outfielder with the 10th overall pick in the first round of the 2018 MLB Draft.

On June 7, 2022, Swaggerty made his Major League Baseball debut with the Pirates. He batted and played in just five games.Nine at-bats and one single equal 111/.111/.111.

Throughout the entire year of 2023, Swaggerty was a batter in the Minor Leagues, primarily at the Triple-A level.200/.278/.369 in 65 different games.

On July 19, Swaggerty was released by the Pirates, and in the middle of August, he signed a Minor League contract with the Chicago White Sox.

After a month, the White Sox discharged him from their Arizona Complex League assignment.

In 2020, FanGraphs ranked Swaggerty as the 61st overall prospect in Major League Baseball. He had potential grades of 50 or more on all of his tools, including 60 for raw power, 65 for run, 60 for fielding, and 60 for throwing.

With the exception of two impressive performances at the Single-A level in 2018 and 2019, Swaggerty has not been able to put all of his tools together, despite his raw tools suggesting a high ceiling.

The 26-year-old has played in 314 games with the Minor League team, hitting.250/.341/.388 with 27 home runs, 127 RBI, 184 runs scored, and 59 stolen bases.

Austin Beck and Travis Swaggerty are the newest Dodgers signings.

The Oakland Atheltics selected Beck sixth overall in the first round of the 2017 MLB Draft. He had been with the A’s since signing a franchise-record $5.303 million contract, but in early November he opted to become a free agent.

In his Minor League tenure, Beck has drastically reduced.252/.303/.384 with 394 games played, 31 home runs, 206 RBI, and 174 runs scored.
