Shohei Ohtani’s signing with the Dodgers was long in coming, but the team is now happy to have him. Ohtani adds another superstar to the roster, but this time his star power will be felt all over the world.
Even though Los Angeles had been attempting to sign Ohtani since he was a high school senior, it appears that the third attempt was the charm. Andrew Friedman, VP of baseball operations for the Dodgers, spoke with the MLB Network to Ԁissect his pitch to Shohei Ohtani.
Whatever you use to measure the last decade’s performance, we’re only concerned with making the next decade even better. Plus, we have a solid foundation of core talent and a well-established farm system. Winning is our number one priority. And it was in perfect harmony with all of his points.
Ohtani resonated with the Dodgers’ aspiration to continue winning in the coming years, despite their past successes. Ohtani would like to play a role in helping the team change that by winning more World Series.
Every year that Ohtani is a part of the Dodgers, they will do all in their power to help him win the World Series. One of the reasons he was so enticed to Los Angeles was because they could offer him something that other baseball teams couldn’t.
Ohtani also contributed to his historic contract deferrals by believing the Dodgers’ pitch. Ohtani valued receiving the majority of his contract payment upon completion of the deal more than having his salary recorded on the books, which would have limited their ability to spend.
The Dodgers will give the two-way superstar his shot at achieving his lifelong dream of winning at the major league level. The two teams complement each other well, and they intend to win World Series after World Series together.
