Shortly after Shohei Ohtani’s official debut at Dodger Stadium, the Los Angeles Dodgers acquired Tyler Glasnow and Manuel Margot from the Tampa Bay Rays by trading Jonny DeLuca and Ryan Pepiot.
A significant portion of the trade’s focus was on Pepiot and Glasnow. While Pepiot has become a vital member of the Dodgers starting rotation, when healthy, Glasnow has greater potential as an ace. As part of the trade, the Dodgers signed Glasnow to a five-year contract extension.
Pepiot thanked his former teammates and coaches on Instagram shortly after the Dodgers and Rays finalized their deal. He also expressed his excitement about joining the Rays.
DeLuca did the same on social media with a post of his own.

Something that Jonny Deluca (@jonny_deluca) shared
During the 2023 season, DeLuca was one of the players who made his Major League Baseball debut with the Dodgers. On June 4, he came to the team from Triple-A Oklahoma City as a countermovement to Trayce Thompson’s 10-day injury list.
Six weeks later, DeLuca was optioned back to OKC, but he soon made a quick comeback when Jake Marisnick was also added to the IL. After spending just one week with the Dodgers, DeLuca was placed on the disabled list. At the end of August, he was activated and sent to Oklahoma City.
The Dodgers career of Jonny DeLuca, a University of Oregon student, was chosen by the Dodgers in the 25th round of the 2019 MLB Draft. Despite doing well in the Minor Leagues, the Agoura Hills native only made 25 appearances for the Dodgers.
During that time, DeLuca batted.262/.311/.429 with one double, two home runs, and six RBI. During his time with the Dodgers, DeLuca made headlines when he hit his first home run ever at Dodger Stadium and when he made spectacular catches at Globe Life Field against the Texas Rangers.
