According to reports, Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro is aiming to return from his ankle ιnjury on either Monday, December 18 or Wednesday, December 20.
Not since the game against the Memphis Grizzlies on November 8th has the former Sixth Man of the Year been in action.
On the 18th, the Heat will take on the Minnesota Timberwolves, and on the 20th, they’ll face the Orlando Magic. The return of Herro would be a huge boost for Miami, especially considering how well those two clubs have started the season.
There had been rumors that Herro and Bam Adebayo would be back before the month came to a close. A hip issue has sidelined Adebayo.
Herro has played in just eight games for Miami this season because of his ankle ιnjury.
Before playing just 8 minutes and ten seconds in a November 8 game against Memphis, the former University of Kentucky standout had been on fire for the Heat, scoring 22 points or more in six consecutive games.
Despite being the subject of trade speculations throughout the winter, most notably involving Damian Lillard, Herro has continued to perform admirably for the Heat this year. This season for Miami, the young guard has shot 44.7% from the field and 41.0% from outside the arc, enough for an average of 22.9 points, 5.0 boards, and 4.6 assists per game.
Before Thursday night’s game against the Chicago Bulls, the Heat will be riding high as the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference. Despite missing Herro and Adebayo, the club has nevertheless managed to win a number of basketball games.
After suffering an ιnjury in the opening round of last year’s playoffs against the Milwaukee Bucks, Herro was unable to participate for the most of Miami’s journey to the NBA Finals.
Miami lost two important rotation players in Gabe Vincent (signed with the Los Angeles Lakers) and Max Strus (dealt to the Cleveland Cavaliers in a sign-and-trade) last offseason, so the team is hopeful he can remain healthy this season, especially if the Heat make the playoffs.
It’s huge news for the Heat that Herro won’t be out for much longer than expected; his return should provide a much-needed scoring lift to the team’s аttаck.
Before the 2023–24 season, Herro had posted two consecutive seasons with 20+ point averages.
When Herro returns next week, it will be intriguing to watch whatever game he plays in.
