The 2024 World Series hopes of the New York Yankees can be dashed if the team is able to augment its rotation with another elite starter.
As a team, New York managed to win 82 games last season despite fielding a dismal offense. While the Yankees were offseasoning, they were looking to upgrade their outfield and add a left-handed bat to the order. Getting Juan Soto and Alex Verdugo was a huge deal for New York in this regard.
As a team, the Yankees are concentrating on the starting rotation and are widely believed to be among the favorites to sign Yoshinobu Yamamoto, the pitcher for the Orix Buffaloes. Clubs are likely to speak with the 25-year-old this week. He is the most sought-after free agent starter, second only to Shohei Ohtanit.
The New York Yankees were supposed to meet with Yamamoto on Monday, after he visited with the San Francisco Giants on Sunday. What will happen at the meeting is anybody’s guess, but YES Network’s Jack Curry says the Yankees are “optimistic” about signing Yamamoto.
“A sоurce with knоwledge оf the Yankees’ interactiоn with Yamamоtо said they remain оptimistic abоut their pursuit оf the free agent pitcher,” stated Curry. There is sоme infоrmatiоn here. Sо here’s a crumb fоr yоu. Keep watching. оn the Yankees Hоt Stоve, airing at 6:30 PM оn YES, we’ll discuss Yamamоtо, оhtani, and оther tоpics.
The Yankees would have, at least on paper, one of the finest rotations in the majors if they signed Yamamoto right away. While the Knicks could use another depth pitcher, one of the greatest duos in baseball would consist of Gerrit Cole and Yamamoto.
We could expect to hear about Yamamoto’s next team soon, as his market is expected to heat up following Ohtani’s signing.
