Timothee Chalamet watches the Lakers defeat the Pacers in the Las Vegas In-Season Tournament… while receiving incredible praise for Wonka

On Saturday night in Las Vegas, the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Philadelphia Pacers 123-129 to win the first-ever in-season tournament.

The 27-year-old Timothée Chalamet watched the thrilling match from a courtside position.

The Wonka actor paired black leather leggings with a white T-shirt and a black jumper.

Under a black ball cap, he managed his renowned curly hair and appeared engrossed in the action on the court.

The Call Me By Your Name actor is receiving high marks for his role in Wonka, the prequel to Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, at the same time as the athletic event.

The 1964 novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl has a prequel called Wonka, which stars Chalamet.

In previous movies, Gene Wilder and Johnny Depp portrayed the slightly scary chocolatier.

Wonka follows Willy Wonka, who has moved to London to operate his chocolate shop but is younger, more optimistic, and less cynical. But he faces danger from a strong cartel that controls the whole candy business.

Since he was a little child, director Paul King has been a huge fan of Willy Wonka, referring to the character as an “extraordinary creation.” This mysterious inventor, magician, and chocolate maker has the ability to grant wishes and causes amazing things to occur all around him.

“I contemplated what would transpire if Willy Wonka were to be the central character in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and investigated his past,” he said.

The actor from Dune, who grew up watching Wilder’s 1971 version of the film, described the role as “a dream come true.”

Chalamet told USA Today, “I remember reading the script and realizing right away that his unwavering spirit and ambition were some of the most important aspects of the character.”

It was the complete opposite of the familiar Willy Wonka, complete with a deranged expression in his eye. He said, “How would that character have begun to end up in a place where he’s still childlike but kind of broken?”

“I want to answer the question of how he became what he did,” King said. “The film is about why he’s so driven to become this extraordinary chocolate maker.”

Stars attend the Wonka World Premiere red carpet event.
