Atlanta Braves News: Dylan Cease & Shohei Ohtani Are Unlikely

As the MLB Winter Meetings continue in Nashville, Tennessee, the Atlanta Braves are a team to keep an eye on because they are rumored to be interested in a couple of the available top players.

With the addition of Reynaldo López to their roster and the acquisition of Jarred Kelenic, the Braves have already filled their left field void. It is anticipated that they will make another significant acquisition by the end of the week.

The squad has been connected to Chicago White Sox star Dylan Cease and has surfaced as a possible destination for Shohei Ohtani.

However, according to Mark Bowman of MLB.com, the Braves are seen as long shots for both players:

The Braves don’t seem to be favorites to acquire White Sox right-hander Dylan Cease in a trade, and they haven’t demonstrated a genuine interest in signing free agent Shohei Ohtani.

Ohtani is rumored to have reduced the number of teams interested in signing a record-breaking contract to just a few, including the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Ohtani was previously thought to be a good fit for the Braves because of their recent winning streak and youthful, talented core of players.

The Braves have been linked to a number of elite starting pitchers this summer, including Cease. also had previously tried to sign Aaron Nola before he went back to the Philadelphia Phillies and also shown interest in Sonny Gray.

Corbin Burnes or Tyler Glasnow may be acquired by the Braves to make another splash, even if Ohtani and Cease end up somewhere else.

Alex Anthopoulos, general manager and head of baseball operations for the Braves, has previously demonstrated his ability to make an unexpected addition.

The Dodgers’ Winter Meetings hotel is stoking speculation about Shohei Ohtani. The front office of the Dodgers is staying at a location other than the Gaylord Opryland Resort, which has sparked rumors that it may be connected to their pursuit of the two-way star. The Dodgers are among a group of finalists in the Ohtani sweepstakes.

Although it was once stated that Ohtani might sign during the Winter Meetings, it is not a given any longer.
