Kyrie Irving’s aspiration materialized as he played a role in his father’s acquisition of the stunning Malibu property with ocean views. Chef and cookbook author Geraldine Gilliland officially transferred ownership of her Malibu mountain home to its new owner, Drederick Irving, the father of Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving.
The property, known as “Rancho Chiquita,” was initially listed for $18 million, but Drederick Irving secured it for $10.7 million, approximately $7.4 million less than the original asking price, as per public records.
The 40-acre compound has served various purposes, functioning as a wedding and party venue, a filming location for “The Voice,” and a non-profit dog rescue. Gilliland, owner of Santa Monica’s Lula Cocina Mexicana restaurant, expanded her land holdings over time. The gated compound includes a hacienda-style main house and a detached residence, all situated on a 225-acre parcel boasting ocean and mountain views.
The stucco and terracotta-roof main house offers over 6,700 square feet of two-story living space, featuring wood-beam ceilings, Saltillo tile and parquet floors, arched doors, and clerestory windows.
The main level includes a living room with a fireplace, a formal dining room with its own fireplace, and a gourmet kitchen equipped with granite countertops, an eat-in island with built-in wine storage, high-end stainless appliances, a walk-in pantry, and a breakfast alcove.
