With His Performance Against the Heat, Jimmy Butler Made NBA History

The Indiana Pacers will be playing in Florida on Saturday night against the Miami Heat.

Jimmy Butler advanced on the NBA scoring record during the game, cementing his place in NBA annals.

As of this evening, Butler’s career point total was 14,014, putting him in first place, surpassing Fred Brown’s 14,018.

Once Butler passes Brown, David West (14.034) will be up next.

Butler came into the game averaging 21.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. In 15 games played, he shot 46.5% from the field and 40.5% from beyond the arc.

On Thursday, the Heat won at home against the Pacers 142-132.

Butler shot 9/18 from the field in 38 minutes of play, adding 10 rebounds and 3 assists to his 36 points.

On Wednesday, the Heat will travel to Toronto, Canada, to face the Raptors, their next game after their loss to the Pacers.

Butler has been with the Heat for five seasons, and throughout that time he has guided the team to the NBA Finals twice.

They lost in the NBA Finals to the Denver Nuggets last season, but advanced past the Eastern Conference’s eighth seed by defeating the Bucks, Knicks, and Celtics in the first three rounds.

Butler has a career record of 18.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.6 steals per game while shooting 46.7% from the field in 769 regular season games.
