“If they make a deal, San Diego won’t recoup anything close to the haul of players it gave the Washingtоn Nationals for Soto — the sort of psychological barrier that has derailed plenty of potential deals in the past,” said Passan. New York Yankees scouts are looking for bats to re-energize an offense that finished 25th in MLB in runs scored this season. The Padres are interested in the Yankees’ major league-ready pitchers, and the Yankees’ farm system is deep enough to pique San Diego’s interest in a trade.
