Despite delivering a stellar performance on Tuesday night with 41 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists in the Dallas Mavericks’ 121-115 victory over the Houston Rockets, Luka Doncic found himself facing a financial consequence for a flop during the game.

The NBA announced on Wednesday that Doncic received a “postgame flopping fine” of $2,000 for a play in the first quarter. In that instance, the Mavericks’ standout took a 3-pointer over the Rockets’ Dillion Brooks, falling down without apparent contact.

Maintaining his characteristic humor, Doncic responded by posting pictures of himself wearing referee attire on his Instagram story when the NBA revealed the fine.

While Doncic has accumulated technical fouls in recent years for disputing calls, potentially risking a suspension, this season has shown a shift in his approach. With only three technical fouls in 17 games, he currently shares the fourth-most with 15 other players in the league.

Former Mavericks player Kristaps Porzingis leads the league with eight technical fouls, now playing for the Boston Celtics, while Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks holds second place with five.
