On the ballot for the Hall of Fame, six other former Texas Rangers

Among the prominent players on the ballot for the Baseball Hall of Fame’s Class of 2024 is Adrián Beltré, a former third baseman with the Texas Rangers. He’s not the only Rangers-affiliated player being considered for induction, though. This year’s poll includes Beltré and six other former Rangers players.

Among the former Rangers players listed on the 2024 ballot is Andruw Jones. Jones, a 2009 Rangers player, is listed for the seventh time on the ballot. Jones was a five-time All-Star with a tremendous career that included 10 Gold Gloves and 434 home runs, even though his time with the Rangers wasn’t the best.

Also on the ballot is Carlos Beltrán, a 2016 Rangers player. In his first year of eligibility, he got 46.5 percent of the vote in the previous year. During his brilliant 20-year career, Beltrán was named an All-Star nine times, and he also took home three Gold Gloves and two Silver Slugger Awards. Only four players in history have amassed at least 2,700 hits, 400 home runs, 300 steals, and 1,500 runs scored. He is one of them.

Another former Ranger on the ballot is Alex Rodriguez, who was a player for the team from 2001 to 2003. In 2023, A-Rod secured 35.7% of the vote. With ten Silver Slugger Awards, three AL MVPs, and fourteen choices for the All-Star Game, he had an outstanding career. Rodriguez has accomplished a lot, but his association with the PED controversy has cast doubt on his candidacy.

Additionally on the ballot is Omar Vizquel, a 2009 Rangers player for a single season. Vizquel, who earned 11 Gold Gloves while playing shortstop, is regarded as one of the greatest fielders in MLB history. He is ranked well in several defensive categories and has defensive records at the position. Last year, Vizquel garnered 19.5 percent of the vote.

In 2018, Bartolo Colon—also known as “Big Sexy”—pitched for the Rangers for the last time. Colon is one of three former Rangers players in this category, and this is his first year on the list. Colon had a great career, taking home the AL Cy Young Award in 2005 and amassing remarkable stats, including 247 victories and nearly 2,500 strikeouts.

Adrián González, who signed a contract with the Rangers in 2004, is also making his first appearance on the ballot. Before being sold to San Diego, González spent two seasons as a player for the Rangers. His remarkable hitting numbers and postseason performances made him a five-time All-Star and a four-time Gold Glove winner.

Voters will take into account the accomplishments of these former Rangers players in order to choose who deserves to be inducted into the prestigious Baseball Hall of Fame. These players have left their imprint on the baseball world.
