Heat defeat Cavs behind 28 points from Lowry, who makes seven threes

The Miami Heat rolled past the sluggish Cavaliers 129-96 on Wednesday, thanks in large part to Kyle Lowry’s season-high 28 points and seven 3-pointers. Cleveland was playing the second night of a back-to-back.

When Bam was benched, Lowry saw an opportunity to increase his shot total. “Defeating an exceptionally strong opponent on the road was great.”

The Heat have played a league-high 12 of their first 17 games away from South Florida, putting their frequent flier miles to good use.

As the Heat’s bench players played the full fourth quarter, eight players scored, including rookie Jaime Jaquez Jr.’s 22 points, which was his greatest game as a professional. This tied a team record.

The winning streak of the Cavaliers was cut off at four games. They won in overtime against Philadelphia on Tuesday to maintain their hopes of earning a wild card to the NBA’s mid-season tournament, so it’s no surprise they were dragging.

This is just the way basketball is, and we refuse to make excuses.

In his debut with the Cavaliers, youngster Craig Porter Jr. scored 16 points, which was good for team scoring.

The top players for both teams were not available.

The inability to jump is a major flaw for an NBA player, according to Erik Spoelstra, coach of the Heat.

Following the opening tip, Lowry immediately set the tone by leading the Heat to a 19-7 advantage with four 3-pointers in the first 4 minutes and 49 seconds.

Spoelstra praised Kyle’s performance, praising both his shooting and his tempo. “He had to be more forceful and confident for us.”

Coaches from Miami have been pushing him and his teammates to perform at a high level, according to Lowry.

He admitted that he had been attempting to play a little faster and push the pace in the previous ten games. “One thing we aim for and are good at is maintaining a high tempo and throwing teams off their game.”

Even though Cleveland was still in the game going into the third, the Heat extended their lead to 101–79 thanks to five more 3-pointers (two of which came from Lowry).

All of them appeared to be on fire, according to Bickerstaff. You could tell right away that this was a veteran squad telling the other to run, run, run. That was too much for us to handle.

In the second quarter, Miami’s backup guard Dru Smith sprained his right knee after stepping on a raised area of the court near Cleveland’s bench.

For circumstances related to his personal life, Heat forward Kevin Love did not attend the trip. Following his release from Cleveland last season, this would have been his return to the club for the first game. Love was an integral part of the Cleveland Cavaliers’ 2016 NBA championship team and spent nine seasons with the organization.
