I was relieved to discover that the Texas Rangers and Houston Astros were on different sides of the American League bracket on the last day of the MLB regular season. This implied that their playoff matchup would be for the pennant if they faced each other. The Rangers surprised me by making it this far, and there was still a chance the Astros would lose.
After taking care of business, both Texas teams advanced to the World Series and set up a rivalry game. More than anything, I wanted the Rangers to defeat the Astros. Throughout the season, Houston’s noise was bothersome, particularly when they closed the gap on the Rangers in the division rankings. However, I’m hoping Rangers supporters won’t go to the same extent.
I just wanted the Rangers to play good baseball and figure out a way to win the series as soon as the ALCS got underway. Given how evenly matched the teams were, either side may have won. It appeared as though the Astros would be sulking their way to the World Series once more following the heartbreaking Game 5 setback.
That wasn’t the case, though. The series was secured by the Rangers with victories in the final two games in Houston. Rangers supporters worldwide were grateful for the outcome. In order to be the best, one must defeat the best, and the Rangers defeated the reigning World Series winners in just that manner.
Although the Texas Rangers ultimately prevailed in the World Series, their ALCS triumph over the Astros is extremely significant. I am so appreciative of them for defeating their opponents and winning.
