The free agency of two-way sensation Shohei Ohtani is unlike anything else in baseball history. It is being monitored as closely as any athlete in sports, and no one knows where it will all go.
MLB insider Jon Morosi joined MLB Network to discuss Ohtani’s free agency, and he named one National League team where the two-way phenom would be interested.
“I heard that Shohei would be very interested in playing for the Atlanta Braves.” I don’t expect the Braves to sign him because their aim is to improve their pitching staff for 2024, but it gives you a picture of where his thinking is.”
While Ohtani is unlikely to join the Braves, it is fascinating that he has considered them as a possible team. It’s hardly surprising that he’d want to join Atlanta, which has been one of the top clubs in baseball in recent years. The location of where they play, however, is what makes this tale noteworthy.
It has been reported that geography is no longer a factor for him, and this appears to be true. If he is considering locations other than the West Coast, an additional queue of suitors may form to secure his services.
Teams like the Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers have dominated the league for years, which is why they are appealing to Ohtani. This summer, Los Angeles is likely to be the favorite to sign him, but things might become very intriguing the rest of the way.
Ohtani has stated that all he wants is to win and win consistently. It’s something the Angels haven’t been able to provide for him throughout the years, and it’s the main reason he could leave the team this winter.
