Dallas, Texas Following the Rangers’ World Series victory, Bruce Bochy, Marcus Semien, and Josh Sborz, the manager of the Texas Rangers, have been asked to donate items to the Baseball Hall of Fame. These donations are part of the Autumn Glory exhibition at Cooperstown, New York’s Hall of Fame, and will remain there until the following postseason.
Bochy became the first manager to win four World Series titles as a manager when he donated his cap from Game 5. He also became the first to do so with multiple teams. Except for the one occasion when he provided his manager’s jacket instead, he has a custom of giving his hat as a donation. Bochy jokingly suggested that his head size might be the reason his hat is always chosen, since he is known to require an 8 1/8-inch hat because of his head size.
Semien said he hit a home run in Game 5 and thought it was great to have his elbow guard and jersey from that game in Cooperstown.
Sborz gave up his glove, which he had spiked into the ground during the final out call in Game 5, after finishing the game with a strong showing. He usually wears his initials on his glove, but he wasn’t upset about giving it up because he needed a new one anyway—he recently became a parent once more.
Corey Seager’s batting helmet, Evan Carter’s batting gloves (who set a record with nine doubles in the postseason), Nathan Eovaldi’s spikes and cap (as the winning pitcher in Game 5), Adolis García’s game-winning home run bat from Game 1, and Will Smith’s World Series luggage tag (Smith being the first player to win three consecutive World Series while playing for three different teams) were among the other items that the Rangers also contributed.
It is important to note that Smith’s accomplishment is all the more impressive in light of the Rangers’ postseason record-breaking 11-0 road record.
