Shohei Ohtani wins AL Outstanding Player, as voted by peers

The Los Angeles Angels worked hard to improve their аttаck in 2022, which was one of the worst in baseball. The Halos added some players from outside the organization to try and make their lineup stronger. They also hoped that some of their best players, like Mike Trout and Anthony Rendon, would stay fit.

Sometimes their plan worked, but most of the time it didn’t. The Angels got 16th most runs during the season, which is a little below average. The Brewers and the Marlins were the only teams that were ranked higher than them and made the playoffs. They both lost a game. It was great to see that the Angels were fifth in home runs, but they had a terrible time hitting when there were runners on base. They were doomed offensively because of that.

The Angels still have two Silver Slugger finalists for this season, even though their аttаck isn’t very good. No one is surprised that one of them is Shohei Ohtani, who will definitely win. The second person is Brandon Drury, who is up for the award in two different ways.

Ohtani had a great year on offense. He Һit.304/.412/.654 and had 44 home runs and 95 RBI. He also stole 20 bases, Һit 26 doubles, and Һit 8 triples. He had the most home runs, runs batted in, slugging percentage, OPS, OPS+, and total bases in the AL. He did all of this even though he missed the last month of the season and had to throw once a week. This might have been the best season for a single player in Angels history. It was also one of the best in MLB history, if not the best.

Ohtani is competing with Yordan Alvarez for the DH Silver Slugger award. The playoffs was a big deal for Yordan because he Һit so well, but this is an award for the regular season. It is easily Shohei’s.

Brandon Drury turned out to be one of the best free agents signed in 2022. He had a Silver Slugger season with the Reds and Padres, and he did a great job as the Angels’ main second baseman. He Һit.262/.306/.497 in the end, with 26 home runs and 83 RBI. He was clearly the Angels’ second-best spot player, after Shohei.

Drury is interesting because he wants two Silver Sluggers. Not only is he ready to play second base, but he can also win the Utility Silver Slugger for the second year in a row. But Drury did play first base in 47 games, so it’s not clear how he can be up for two different awards. He is, though, and he has a chance to win at least one.

Drury is competing for the Silver Slugger second base spot with Marcus Semien and Gleyber Torres. Given Semien’s season, it’s likely that he will win, but Drury is likely to finish ahead of Gleyber in second place. Drury might lose if Torres plays in 33 more games, but the Angels infielder still finished with more home runs and RBIs even though he missed time because of an illness.

The veteran shortstop is also competing with Isaac Paredes, Whit Merrifield, and Gunnar Henderson for the Utility Silver Slugger award. It’s likely that he’ll beаt Merrifield, but Drury won’t be able to beаt Paredes and Henderson for the award, especially since he missed a month.

It was still a great move to sign Drury, whether he gets it or not. He will also be with the Angels for the 2024 season, which is great.
