Seager was a Yankees fan while he was growing up in North Carolina. He looked up to Jeter, the team’s starting shortstop and captain at the time, who led the team to four World Series rings and several more unforgettable postseason experiences.

Another shortstop made his debut in 2016 during his rookie season with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The baseball world had no idea that this youngster would go on to become a postseason legend by following in the footsteps of some of the best players to ever play that position.

With his two-run home run in Game 4 of the World Series, Corey Seager became the first shortstop in history to homer in back-to-back games aside from Derek Jeter. The experienced player for the Yanks achieved the feat in Games 4 and 5 of their 2000 World Series victory against the New York Mets.

Jeter was excited to talk about Seager’s spot in the Rangers lineup after the game. During the post-game show on FOX, he stated:

“My favourite player, man, is this guy. Since he is as tuned in as everyone else at the plate, he is entertaining to watch. He causes harm in addition to receiving hits. Why do you still try to sell him things? He is aggressive, attacking first pitchers, and part of the reason they are here, so you cannot get him out on strikes.”

Corey Seager has broken the HOFer record, making him the new “Mr. October.”
In addition to Jeter, Corey Seager also compared himself to the first “Mr. October,” Reggie Jackson. Seager has nearly the same record as Jackson, with 48 RBIs (including 19 home runs) in 77 games. He will tie Michael Jackson’s two World Series MVP honours if he can maintain this form and win the ring. While with the Dodgers in 2020, Seager possesses one.
